RedHat has released several kernels after 2.4.18-5 and IIRC some were
related to bugs in tg3 driver. The current one just released is
2.4.20-18.7 (for 7.2).

This might also be a memory problem on one (or both) computer(s). Let
memtest86 go through several cycles of its tests to make sure that this is
not the case.
