Ubuntu 9.04 is intended to support the 2.6.28 kernel. At the end of Jan. 2009, the experimental label was removed from ext4 and the Ubuntu developers have added the ability to install to an ext4 file system. A Samsung NC10 network was used for the hardware and the pre-Alpha 3 release of Ubuntu 9.04. The netbook used an Intel Atom N270 processor, 2GB of DDR2 memory, and a 32GB OCZ Core Series V2 SSD, and integrated Intel graphics.

The benchmarks are not really HPC related, but it's another data point comparing a number of file systems.
