It's marketing.

Yesterday we had a 7 hour power outage, which covered eastern Denmark
and southern Sweden. The largest outage in 22 years.

Today I got a mail from CA wanting to sell me backup software, to keep
my data safe in case of a new power outage.

Fear and greed is effective on human beings. Marketing's job is to try
to be effective on human beings.

And we're headed OT fast  ;)
