data storage location

I'm new at this so please excuse any errors on my part.

I need to process datasets around 100GB.  What would be the best way for the
Beowulf cluster to access this data?  Should the host node connect to a disk
array over FC-AL?  Should it be a fiber connection to a SAN?  Or does all
this depend on how the application breaks the data down for processing?
