I'm surprised no one has picked up on this comment.  If they have, I've 
missed it.  If you don't want to mess with optimizing and tuning, don't 
even consider itanium.  Let somebody else be the pioneer.  You'll live 
longer.  There are people who are seriously into this kind of stuff, and 
plainly you're not.
