This was in the EV56 era, so Alphas used normal DRAM. Even with EV6
machines, if the chipset addressing hadn't _again_ been crippled,
purchasing large amounts of 200 pin DIMMs gives a price much closer to
commodity 168 pin DIMMs -- once I bought 256 Gbytes in one shot, and
that wasn't so bad. The main number that had to be right was memory
per motherboard.
