Installihng GCC 3.1 on Scyld Beowulf 27BZ-8

Does anyone have experience installing/using GCC 3.1 in the Scyld
barebones 27BZ-8 release? I need very large arrays in fortran so this is
required. Also, is there documentation on how to rebuild the scyld
kernel so that it uses high memory?
