I've looked at it and talked about it with other developers.  It is one
of a few alternatives to the GBT.  The problem is that the GBT are by
this point nearly universal and are encouraged to the point of being
"requirements" in the package build notes for most of the distros.  So
like them or not (and I'm not terribly fond of them, truth be told) they
are close to the only game in town at least until a distro overtly
supports a credible alternative in its standard packaging requirements.
