It's already possible to use yum to get a 2.6 kernel for Fedora.
(Must start testing it myself).

This prompted me to look at the Fedora roadmap:

Looks like 2.6 will be in Fedora 2, scheduled for April.

And very interestingly:
"and integrating work on other architectures (at least AMD64, and possibly 
also SPARC)."
