The only idea I have would be whether doing a LinuxBIOS on the system would 
help - but then of course there's an even worse bootstrapping problem of 
installing LinuxBIOS on all your systems, not to mention small things like 
invalidating warranties, risk of blowing your systems up, etc.. :-)
